Safe, Clean Playground Turf With Impact Pads, Built to Code
Professional playground turf systems for schools, daycares, parks, HOAs and backyard playsets across Southwest Florida and Miami. Impact pads sized to your equipment's fall height, heat-resistant turf made for Florida sun, and no more mud, mulch or puddles.
The Problem With Mulch, Sand & Grass
Traditional playground surfaces are a constant maintenance and safety headache in Florida.
Puddles & mud
Low play areas flood after every storm, and grass under swings wears down to mud.
Mulch that moves
Wood chips float away, get kicked out of fall zones and have to be raked and refilled constantly.
Splinters, bugs & ants
Loose fill hides splinters, fire ants and debris, and it gets tracked into classrooms and homes.
Hard to access
Loose surfaces are tough for wheelchairs, walkers and strollers to cross.
Playground Safety Standards We Build To
A playground surface is a safety system, not just a look. We design every commercial play area around the recognized standards.
Impact attenuation. Impact pads are rated for the critical fall height of your tallest play surface.
Accessibility. A firm, stable surface that wheelchairs and mobility devices can travel across.
Public playground safety guidance for use zones around slides, swings and climbers.
Accessible routes into and through the play area for schools and public facilities.
We supply manufacturer test documentation for the pad and turf system specified for your project, and we coordinate with your facilities team or inspector. Final compliance depends on the equipment, layout and system selected for your site.
Impact Pads: Polygreen Foam
Under our playground turf we install Polygreen Foam impact pads, an engineered shock pad made from recycled foam that cushions falls and lets water drain straight through.
- ✅ Turf on top: heat-resistant play turf
- ✅ Impact pad: Polygreen Foam shock layer that drains
- ✅ Base: compacted, graded base that carries water away
- ✅ Panels: 39 3/8" × 90 9/16" straight edge or 35 3/8" × 88 9/16" puzzle cut
- ✅ Available thicknesses: ¾" up to 2 ¼"
1" Pad
Lower equipment, toddler areas, play lawns and backyard playsets.
2" Pad
Taller structures, swings, climbers and commercial playgrounds.
Each pad's certified critical fall height comes from the manufacturer's ASTM F1292 test results for the complete pad-and-turf system. We measure your equipment and share the spec sheet for the pad we recommend.
How We Install Playground Turf
What goes under the turf is what makes it safe.
Measure fall heights
We measure each piece of equipment and map the fall zones.
Excavate & grade
Old mulch, sand or grass comes out and the area is graded to drain.
Compacted base
A stable aggregate base that drains fast after Florida storms.
Impact pads
Shock pads rated for your fall height, laid tight under the use zones.
Play turf & infill
Heat-resistant turf seamed, secured and finished for play.
Heat-Resistant Turf for Florida Sun
We use turf built for Florida, with UV-stabilized, heat-resistant fibers that hold their color and shape through long, hot summers. We also offer cooling infill options, and we plan for shade where possible.
UV-stabilized fibers
Resist fading and breakdown from year-round Florida sun.
Heat-resistant blades
Made to hold up in summer heat, so the surface keeps its shape and feel.
We check for window glare
Concentrated reflections from some energy-efficient windows can damage any synthetic turf. We look for this on every site visit and recommend screens or film if needed.
Playground Turf vs. Mulch
| Wood mulch | Turf + impact pads | |
|---|---|---|
| After rain | Floats, washes out, stays wet | Drains fast, usable soon after |
| Fall protection | Only when kept at full depth | Consistent pad under every use zone |
| Accessibility | Hard for wheelchairs | Firm and stable surface |
| Maintenance | Raking and refilling | Blowing, brushing and rinsing |
| Cleanliness | Splinters, bugs, debris | Clean, no splinters, no mud |

Playground Turf FAQs
Is artificial turf safe for playgrounds?
Yes, when it is installed as a complete safety system. Under play equipment we install shock-absorbing impact pads beneath the turf, sized to the fall height of the equipment, so the surface cushions falls instead of just looking soft. Outside the fall zones, standard play turf gives kids a clean, mud-free surface.
What are playground impact pads?
Impact pads (also called fall pads or shock pads) are a cushioned layer installed under the turf. We install Polygreen Foam pads, made from recycled foam in panels that drain water straight through. Pad thickness is chosen based on the critical fall height of the equipment above it, and we typically use 1-inch and 2-inch pads, with thicknesses available from 3/4 inch up to 2 1/4 inches.
Do you install playground turf to code?
We design and install playground surfacing to meet the recognized safety standards for playgrounds, including ASTM F1292 for impact attenuation at the equipment's fall height, ADA accessibility for wheelchair access (ASTM F1951), and CPSC public playground safety guidance for use zones. We provide the manufacturer test documentation for the pad and turf system you choose, and we can coordinate with your inspector or facilities team.
What fall height can your system handle?
We typically install 1-inch and 2-inch Polygreen Foam impact pads, with thicknesses available from 3/4 inch to 2 1/4 inches. 1-inch pads are used for lower equipment, toddler areas and backyard playsets; 2-inch pads for taller structures, swings and commercial playgrounds. The exact certified fall height comes from the manufacturer's ASTM F1292 test for the pad-and-turf system, and we match it to the highest designated play surface on your equipment.
Will the turf melt or get too hot?
We use heat-resistant turf made for Florida sun, with UV-stabilized fibers and cooling infill options. One thing to know: any artificial turf can be damaged by concentrated sunlight reflected off certain energy-efficient windows. We check for reflective glass during the site visit and recommend screens or film if needed.
Is playground turf wheelchair accessible?
Yes. A properly installed turf and pad system creates a firm, stable surface that supports wheelchairs and walkers, which is a big advantage over loose mulch, sand or pea gravel.
How does playground turf handle rain?
Our base and permeable turf drain quickly, so play areas are usable soon after a storm, with no puddles, mud or floating mulch to rake back into place.
Do you work with schools, daycares and HOAs?
Yes. We install playground and play-area turf for schools, daycares, churches, parks, apartment communities and HOAs, and we schedule work around class and community hours.
What about backyard playsets?
We install turf under and around backyard swing sets and playsets, with impact pads under the fall zones. It replaces the mud, mulch and dead grass that usually build up under a playset.
How much does playground turf cost?
Cost depends on the area, the fall heights of the equipment (which sets the pad thickness), the base work and the turf. We measure for free and send an itemized quote. Financing is available for residential projects.
