Turtle-Friendly Lighting for Coastal Homes
Live near the Gulf? From May 1 through October 31, sea turtles nest on Southwest Florida beaches, and bright white light near the beach can pull hatchlings away from the water. Coastal communities from Marco Island and Naples up through the Lee and Sarasota County islands have lighting rules for properties near the beach. We design lighting that looks beautiful and follows them.
Keep It Low
Fixtures mounted low and aimed down, putting light only where you need it: paths, steps and entries.
Keep It Long
Amber and red LEDs (long-wavelength, 560 nm and up) that are far less disruptive to turtles than white or blue light.
Keep It Shielded
Shielded fixtures so the light source isn't visible from the beach, with no glow spilling onto the sand.
Rules vary by city and county, so we check the ordinance that applies to your address before we design. Every system can also run on timers so beach-facing lights stay off during nesting season hours.

Our crew installs fixtures, buries the wire and sets up the transformer and controls. Most homes are done in a day or two.

We fine-tune every light after dark and show you how to use your timer or app. Then you just enjoy it.

Landscape Lighting FAQs
How much does landscape lighting cost?
It depends on the number of fixtures, the type of fixtures and how far wire needs to run. A small front-entry package costs far less than a full front, back and pool system. After a free consultation we give you a line-item plan so you can see exactly what each light costs and scale up or down. Financing is available.
Will it raise my electric bill?
Very little. Low-voltage LED systems use a small fraction of the power of old halogen lighting, even running every night.
Do I need an electrician?
Low-voltage systems plug into a transformer mounted near an exterior GFCI outlet. If there's no outlet where we need one, we coordinate a licensed electrician to add it.
Will it hold up to salt air, sprinklers and storms?
That's what we design for. We use coastal-grade fixtures, bury the wire below grade and seal every connection. Fixtures are aimed low to the ground and hold up well in Florida weather.
Can you add lighting to my existing turf or pavers?
Yes. We carefully route wire along bed edges and under turf seams where possible to avoid disturbing finished areas. If you're planning a new turf or paver project, it's best to add lighting at the same time.
Do you install turtle-friendly lighting for beachfront homes?
Yes. For coastal properties we use amber, long-wavelength LEDs in low, shielded fixtures aimed away from the beach, and we check your city or county sea turtle lighting ordinance before we design. It is the same beautiful result, done responsibly.
Can I control the lights from my phone?
Yes. Systems can run on a photocell (on at dusk), a timer, or smart controls with app access and scheduling.
Can you fix or upgrade my old lighting system?
In many cases, yes. We can evaluate your existing wiring and transformer, swap halogen fixtures for LED, and add new lights where you need them.
How long does installation take?
Most residential systems are installed in one to two days, followed by a night visit to aim and fine-tune every fixture.
